Palm Sunday Luncheon
The Greek Ladies Philoptochos of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church will hold their Annual Palm Sunday Luncheon on from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The take out line will open at 10:30 a.m. There will be a variety of Greek dishes such as Pastichio, Spanakopita, Meat balls, and Baked Chicken oreganato served Cafeteria style. Prices range from $1 to $12. Place an order at (828) 253-3754 between 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday-Friday and (828) 254-4754 on the day of the luncheon. Auditions for “The Marvelous Wonderettes ”
The Haywood Arts Regional Theatre will hold auditions for its production of the hit musical “The Marvelous Wonderettes.” The production will be directed by Mark Jones and opens on May 25 for a three week run. The show has leading roles for four women, with an age range from teens to thirty who comprise a 1950’s rock ‘n roll girl group.

Come with a head shot and resume, as well as a prepared audition piece. Community theater actors should come with sheet music and a prepared song. Anyone interested in working backstage is also encouraged to attend. Auditions will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the Feichter Studio of the HART Theatre, 250 Pigeon St. in Waynesville.

The Kontras String Quartet

Call to Artists – Blue Ridge En Plein Air
The Swannanoa Valley Fine Arts League invites artists throughout the region to enter the “Blue Ridge En Plein Air” Show at the Red House Studios & Gallery in Black Mountain, NC.

Entries will be received on Friday, April 27, from 2 to 4 p.m., and Saturday, April 28, from 10 a.m. until 12 noon.

Artwork must be done ‘en plein air’ (out of doors) and not from photographs. All two dimensional plein air media (oils, acrylics, watercolor, pastels, charcoal, conte, and graphite) will be accepted.

Painting and Playing in Italy
May 19 – 27

The Fine Arts League of the Carolinas is once again pleased to return to Italy with a trip to Tuscany between May 19 through May 27. Based in Lucignano, a small Medieval hill town located south of Florence, our guests will comfortably lodge just outside the town walls in old world Villas with kitchens, modern rooms with baths, and a swimming pool.

Lucignano is centrally located in the heart of the Chianti region. Guests simply have to open their door and step out each morning to draw or paint the Tuscan landscape surrounded by Olive Groves and overlooking Cortona.

A member of The Fine Arts League staff will lead a daytrip to one of the surrounding towns to draw, paint or sightsee. Morning drawing and painting will be led by Fine Arts League instructors John Dempsey and Christopher Holt. Afternoon drawing or painting sessions with founder Ben Long.

Oktoberfest Arts and Crafts Applications
Hickory’s Oktoberfest 2012 is now accepting applications for Arts and Crafts vendors. Celebrating its 27th year, this annual festival will be held October 12, 13, and 14, 2012 in Downtown Hickory, NC. Estimated attendance is more than 100,000 for the three day event. Oktoberfest’s Arts and Crafts show is a juried event, with prizes given for the top three artisans. Early registration (postmarked by August 1, 2012) is $100. Regular registration is $150.
