The Asheville Loft 2A feast for all the senses.

By Kathleen Colburn

The Asheville Loft is a unique contemporary fine art gallery located in downtown Asheville.

This impeccably restored loft space is on the third floor of a building with a history of over 100 years. Owners David Lawter and Leigh Ann Singleton are both professional artists and musicians and love providing their beautiful studio for artists and musicians to share their creativity and talents.

The Asheville Loft 1The current exhibit features the art of renowned artist Chris Kramer whose unique elongated style of drawing, painting and sculpture captures the musculature and skeleton of the figure with perfection and precision. Also included in the exhibit is a striking collection of works by local artists including J.P. Sullivan, Noah Park, Maria Musngi, Blythe Brown, Harper Leich, Kurt Thaesler, Amandacera Hannon, Stewart Prather and Skip Rhode.

The Asheville Loft plans to host several themed exhibits and experimental events in the future, notably a gypsy jazz-inspired party with music, live painters and belly dancers, along with culinary artist presentations where chefs delight the “palettes” of those who attend. The new art space is committed to an imaginative approach and developing relationships between patrons and both established and emerging artists. In addition to announced exhibits and events, private showings can be arranged by appointment.

Beginning September 4, indulge your senses, as The Asheville Loft opens its doors with a feast for the eyes, ears and palate, Thursdays & Fridays, 4-6 p.m., Saturdays & Sundays, noon – 6 p.m.

In addition to the art exhibits and shows, David Lawter hosts life drawing sessions from 7:15-9:15 on Monday and Thursday evenings using professional models who pose for the quick sketch as well as long poses. Look for his Facebook page at The Lawter Studios, for more information.
