Flash Fiction Contest – Submission Guidelines

flash-ficiton-guidelinesRapid River Arts & Culture Magazine’s First Ever Flash Fiction Contest!

A flash fiction story should be concise and complete. Strive to use active yet tight sentences. I’ll be looking for stories that are vivid and bright; clear and clean; without being forceful and hard-hitting. You can choose to let the dialogue portray the characters and create any conflict. Illustrate a moment, or a series of moments, with a setting that is either described or implied.

This is the art and the challenge of Flash Fiction!

Submissions not in strict compliance with the following guidelines will not be read or considered.

RapidRiverMagazine.com is a family-friendly website, therefore works with devastation, offensive or graphic content, will not be read or considered. Also, no erotica and no poetry.

Word limit is 500.

Copyrights must be owned by the author and will be retained by the author. Submission to Rapid River Magazine implies continued, one-time-use consent to publish the author’s material on RapidRiverMagazine.com. First or exclusive rights to a written piece are not required for this contest.

Deadline for submissions is November 1, 2015

Only hardcopy submissions, with the $5 reading fee attached, will be accepted. Make checks payable to Kathleen Colburn.
