Online fundraiser will be matched 150% by international book publisher.

An active online fundraiser seeks to raise $1,000 for local nonprofit the POP Project in order to be matched by $1,500 in children’s books from Usborne Books & More. These books will then be distributed for free to children in low-income Buncombe County communities.

Usborne Books & More representative Andi Locke Mears is partnering with the POP Project to lead the fundraiser. Mears is an educational consultant for the publishing company, as well as an avid promoter of children’s literacy. Mears has set up a secure online donation page on YouCaring.com at youcaring.com/POPProject. The fundraiser will run until November 3, 2015.

Though Usborne’s “Literacy for a Lifetime” grant-matching program, any educational institution, community program, school, or library that receives donations or grant funding is able to maximize their donations up to 150%. When donations are used to purchase books from Usborne Books & More, the publisher will match the donation funds with an additional 50% in free books.

The POP Project distributes free books in Buncombe County and across Western North Carolina, including to schools, low-income communities, food pantries, and children’s programs. Funds raised through YouCaring.com will be used to supplement POP’s existing book inventory, as well as to offer specialized book topics that have been requested by certain locations.

Usborne Books & More is a subsidiary of Educational Development Corporation, Tulsa, OK, a leading publisher of children’s books. For more information about the fundraiser, or to donate today, please visit youcaring.com/POPProject.
