The Haywood County Arts Council and Friends of the Library Continue Concerts in August

The Friends of the Library will continue a partnership with the Haywood County Arts Council to sponsor weekend afternoon performances during the month of August. This month, The Friends of the Library Concert Series continues with Angela Easterling playing her brand of rock at the Waynesville branch on Saturday, August 13. The Coffee Branch Band will play at the Canton branch on Sunday, August 21. Both performances begin at 3pm and are free and open to the public.

Angela Easterling lives with her partner and their two young sons on the South Carolina farm that has been in her family since 1791. She is a three-time Kerrville New Folk Finalist, a Telluride Troubadour Finalist and a two-time Wildflower Performing Songwriter Finalist. The Boston Herald named her song, “The Picture,” the “Best Political Country Song” in their Year’s best music issue. Her most recent release, 2015’s Common Law Wife, went all the way to number 1 on the Roots Music Report Americana Country Airplay Chart, and remained in the top 5 on that chart for nearly 2 months. Roger McGuinn, of the Byrds, called her “a bright shining star on the horizon!” and went on to say, “Her CD brought me back to the time the Byrds recorded “Sweetheart of the Rodeo” – tradition meets youthful exuberance.” Do not miss her performance at the Waynesville branch of the Haywood County Library on August 13.

On August 21, welcome back The Coffee Branch Band to the Haywood County Public Library at Canton. Bobby Hammons and The Coffee Branch Band will be performing on guitar and fiddle, in bluegrass, country, and gospel genres. There’s sure to be a little of something wonderful for everyone. Make this stop a part of  your Sunday afternoon drive and sing along with the sweet sounds of the band.

The Friends of the Library Concert Series continues through November. For upcoming artists and additional information, visit HaywoodArts.org and click on Events.
