The Top 4 Items You Should Have As A Dog Owner

by Anne Diorelle

Dogs, just like humans have the need to be taken care of. After all, they are our most trusted companions. Owning a dog can seem so exciting at first but it is not as easy as you might think. The task of identifying the necessary essentials that you’ll require can be quite daunting. Knowing the correct dog items to acquire is beneficial for a healthy, safe and happy dog. Below are a few important items that you as a dog owner should have for your dog.

  1.    Parasitic and Flea Medications

Have you ever come across a dog that seems to undergo a lot of body changes? You may begin to wonder if it’s malnourished or just sick. Dogs usually spend more time lying on the ground from where they can pick up parasites which can affect their health. So, the first thing you should have at your disposal is easy to use parasitic meds to help clean your dog off the parasites. Doing so will lower the chances of your dog developing a disease. Fleas normally cause dermatitis due to frequent skin irritation. Others such as the parasitic heartworms normally lead to the death of dogs if left untreated. Put in mind that the health of your dog comes first so don’t take any chances.

  1.    Durable Food and Water Bowls

You do not want to have your dog eating from the floor or the same plates you use for eating. Invest in recommended and durable dog bowls. If you’re a first-time dog owner, never go for plastic bowls, but instead, go for the ceramic or steel bowls since they are easy to clean and cannot be chewed up by the dog. Additionally, you can also invest in portable collapsible bowls when you take it out for a walk. They are designed to be carried easily in backpacks. For instance, the long leashes are excellent for long walks with your dog in parks, running, hiking or road trips, while the shorts leashes allow for more close control of the dog particularly when training it. Remember not to interchange them all the time. Just do it only occasionally as it will make your dog trust you more.

  1.    Poop Bags

Poop bags are always a must-have item especially when you are up and about with your dog. Your dog can make a mess with its poop and you only need to scoop them off with a poop bag and dispose of later. Always be prepared with the poop bag so that you don’t find yourself in an awkward situation.  The good thing is that they are easy to use. To keep the environment clean you can opt for the biodegradable poop bags.
